Ocosingo Hwy, Chiapas, Mexico
March 2002 This beautiful Bearded Screech-Owl was in a very dangerous area of the mountains along the Ocosingo Hwy. In the little time we spent in this area we heard many owls calling. This was a real lesson in the superstitious beliefs of the locals. When the owls started responding to our calls a man down below the mountain side, where we were, yelled up to us... "I'm going to kill you owls!" (he didn't know we were there). |
