This male Great Horned was in Laguna Niguel Park in March of 2010. He was very low (~10 feet up) in a tree and seemed to have been in virtually the same spot for several weeks (in the daytime only of course). With a little looking around the reason was fairly clear. About 30-40 yards away and in view of his roost was his mate on a nest. As the owls often seem to be, they were of great interest to many people and the young were a treat to see grow. |
