Dale Matthies took this beautiful photo of a Saw-whet Owl sitting in a spruce tree in his backyard in Goderich, Ontario, Canada on the eastern shore of Lake Huron. These cute little owls can be quite bold on a day roost and allow very close approach. In this case, the owl was only about 5 feet off the ground. What a great visitor to find in your backyard on Thanksgiving morning (October 2009).

I guess that about sums it up... as long as you are not a small mammal.
