This is a female Spotted Owl that was found in the California Sierras near Yosemite in September of 2000. The California Spotted (the race found in the Sierras and along the Southern California coastal mountain ranges) is not normally considered to be quite as tame as the Northern Spotted (the race found along the northern coast of the US). That wasn't the case with this owl. |
