David Nelson took this beautiful photo of a red morph Vermiculated Screech-Owl. We found this owl at the Veragua Rainforest in Costa Rica. David and I stayed in this very remote and developing Caribbean lowland research and adventure park. The reserve has exceptional nocturnal and diurnal wildlife including several owl species. There were both red and brown morph Vermiculated Screech-Owls at this location. As with the Eastern Screech-Owl in North America, both color forms can be found in the same area and even come from the same nest.
