Panuco Rd. off
Durango Hwy, Mexico
June 2001 The
streaking and crossbars on the under parts of the Guatemalan
Screech are much thinner (very thin, fine markings) than they are in the Eastern and Western Screech-Owls although it is still
very close in size and appearance with the North American Screech-Owls. The size, dark bold facial rim, and fine chest streaking separate this screech-owl visually from any other in its range throughout Central America. Of course, positive identification of the screech-owls is always best done by their calls.
