California Sierras

May 2009 Although a very small bird the
Northern Pygmy-Owl is a very agressive preditor. His primary diet is other small birds and he will attack ones almost twice his size. It seems you always see these owls with at least half a dozen other birds chasing or diving at them to try to get the pygmy-owl out of their territory. I have also seen a the attackers get just a little too close and the owl grab them.
