This Western Screech-Owl was in Limestone Canyon, California (Dec 2005). Although the rest of the group was not very excited about me taking photos during our Christmas Bird Count, I had to take at least 1 photo since we were seeing so many of these. Western Screech-Owsl are very common in California but can be very difficult to see since they are small, well camouflaged, and hard to locate by sound (look about 2/3 the distance it seems their sounds are coming from). |
