Whiskered Screech-Owl was photographed outside Portal, Arizona along Forest Rd. The Whiskered Screech-Owls, in contrast with the Eastern and Western Screech-Owls, have longer facial "whiskers". These longer whiskers can be see around the bill in this photo and are what give way to how the owl was named. In the field, positively distinguishing these species should always be done by their vocalizations.
