La Selva Biological Station,

This Vermiculated Screech-Owl was found at the La Selva Biological Reserve in Costa Rica. This species of owl was previously grouped together with the Guatemalan Screech-Owls. The appearance of the two species is different with the Vermiculated Screech-Owls having heavier vermiculated underside markings and no dark facial rim. Vocal differences are primary in separating these two species.
